Google Alerts is a handy way to receive updates on newly indexed content on topics / keywords of your choosing. Updates are sent via email or text message, at a frequency you choose. It can be real time, daily or weekly.
For example, I have another site called Exploring Alternative Nursing Careers, a career site for nurses, so my alerts are set for my keywords “nursing careers” nursing specialty” “online nursing programs” and a list of nursing specialties by name such as geriatric care manager.
Every time an article is written or news is released or a discussion is taking place (if that’s what you choose to receive updates on) you will be alerted to what is going on.
It allows you to see what people are writing about on that topic, giving you ideas to write about or to keep updated with your industry news.
Set up a Google alert for your personal name and for your business name, that way if someone is saying something about you or your business you will know.
Pretty cool!
