Social media  marketing has  become the way to market in this day and age of the Internet.  Businesses are able to reach people throughout the world with their products and services making social media marketing the key to reaching as many people as possible.

If you are not familiar with social media marketing, here is a little explanation. Social media marketing  is basically interacting with other people on the Internet through various sites and platforms, such as Twitter, Facebook and Linked In.

Incorporating these social media sites  into your business marketing plan will increase blog traffic  and more traffic means more sales.

I like Twitter and that’s where I spent my time. You may want to concentrate on Facebook or any of the many others out there.  

I will be adding a Facebook fan page but for now I’m learning Twitter and getting good at it. So learn one at a time  and find which one you want to spent your time on for marketing your business than  track your results to see which is converting better.

So know your target market.  Is your target market work at home moms, nurses,, lawyers, etc? Once you know your target market, begin connecting with them by adding them as a friends or followers.

Twitter has it’s own search site that is great for finding out what your target market is asking quesitons about. Go to http://search.twitter.com/advanced  and type in keywords relevant to your market or type in yoru company name to see what people are saying about the company. I’ll talk more about this great tool in a later post.

One thing you will find about social media  is there are millions of people. You will get people adding you that will never buy from you or become regular readers of yours, but they may be a friend or follower of someone else who will.

The idea is to build relationships with these friends and followers so they get to know you and trust you, becomeing  regular subscribers to your business blog and than paying customers.
