I recently wrote a post on Great Business Ideas for Nurses, but now I have a few otherways to get your juices flowing, helping you to brainstorm your unique nursing business idea.
So if you are just starting out with the idea of being an entrepreneur but don’t know what it is you want to do, whether it will be a service you provide or a product you sell, here’s two more ways to get you thinking about what it is you want to do.
* Write down all the skills you have acquired over the years. Use verbs to describe what you have done such as teaching, organizing, analyzing. Make sure when you are writing down your skills to include experience you may have acquired outside your present work, such as hobbies or classes you recently taken, any life experience you have acquired along the way.
Take the skills from this list and create another list using the skills you love to do or want to incorperate into your nurse entrepreneur business.
* Another approach you could use when trying to figure out what it is you like to do is to tell a story about an event that happened to you and made you feel really good about that accomplishment.
Maybe you taught someone how to do something or put something together for them or saved them money or time, did something a different way that was more efficient or effective. Maybe you have been showing others how to do something over and over again or you have an idea on how to do a procedure better or faster.
Keep narrowing donw your idea into a unique business opportunity. List what it is you want to do – is it a product you will be selling or a service? How can you do this better, different or with a new twist to an existing concept? Who will be your clients? Does your client have a problem that needs solving and can you solve that problem?
Write down your idea, what you will be doing and who your clients will be. This information will be used to test your idea with the market. Market research will be your next step but I won’t go into this now (that’s for another post) but do get clear about what it is you want to do.
It’s all about providing the right service to the right market. So when coming up with an idea for a nursing business try to focus on what the client problems are and how you can help.
