Do You Have What It Takes To Run An Online Business From Home?

Work From Home

Do you really have what it takes to run an online business from home or from anywhere? Have you sat down and asked yourself why you want to do this? If your answer is to make money online then you need to read on because making money online will not come without hard work, perseverance and dedication, just to name a few traits you’ll find in successful entrepreneurs but not to fear, these can be learned if you really want to start an online business from home.

Here are a few questions to ask yourself. Take time to answer them honestly and write them down. It will help to get a big picture of what characteristic you will need to work on.

Do you want to be your own boss?
Yeah this sounds nice but remember there will be no one looking over your shoulders, the buck stops with you. So be sure you are a self starter, you know how to get the job done and done right. Or you are willing to learn how to get it done.

Are you bored with your traditional “9 to 5″ job?
Maybe your work is no longer satisfying or you want more creativity or the ability to do what you want, when you want. What would be your ideal hours to work?

Are you hoping to improve your standard of living?
I know in nursing there’s only so much money you can make and there’s no way you’re going to make a 6 figure salary (unless you want to work 12 shifts, 7 days a week) working in a hospital or nursing home as a staff nurse. Starting an online business from home can be done part time, it’s a great way to make supplemental income for you and your family.

Do you believe the product or service you have to offer will fill a need in the marketplace?
If you have an idea, have you research the marketplace to see if people will buy your product or service? You may have a great idea or think your service is needed but if you haven’t done your research you may be surprised to find out no one wants to buy your product or service for many reasons. You must know this going into business online.

Do you want to take control of your career and life?
Are you seeking a challenge? If so, great but you will need to have patience, motivation and present leadership qualities and competitiveness because business is highly competitive and if this is something that stresses you out, you’ll need to work on this.

What about your personal life?
Is your family and friends on board with you starting an online business or do they think you’re crazy? It will be very tough to start a business online if your family and friends are not supportive. You’ll need to look elsewhere for that support because running an online business takes a team, you won’t be able to do it alone. Start talking with your family now about what you want and keeps the lines of communication open.

Do you have the time?
Are you working a full time job but want to start your online business on the side? If so, have you thought about the time it will take to get your online business started? And will you have the energy to work on your business after working a full day at the hospital or wherever it is you work? Do you want to give up your weekends? Starting an online business takes lots of time and it’s a learning curve so be prepared to put in long hours, even when you don’t feel like it.

Do you have space to work from home?
Do you have adequate space in your home to start your online business? You should create a space that is separate from your living space. There are many who work from anywhere and don’t have an home office but when you are starting out you should have a space to call your own for maximum productivity. Once your business is set up and running smoothly, than you can take your online business on the road.

Starting any business whether it’s online or offline, is by no means easy, don’t let anyone tell you it is. You need to be up for the challenges that lie ahead. Take some time to answer the questions above and really think about what you can do or can’t do.

If you think you don’t have what it takes to start an online business now, that’s fine. Start working on the areas where you’re lacking in and start when you ready. Starting an online business is not a race, start slow, learn and move from there. Good Luck!

Do you have a business website but want to add a wordpress blog to your site?

Or maybe you want to start a blog first then build a website around your blog.

Either way, using the WordPress.org platform is the easiest way to accomplish this.

WordPress is a blogging platform that is so versatile it can be used not only for blogging, but also as a regular static website. No more needing to know how to use html or waiting on a designer to update your website for you.

Getting your website online is as easy as getting WordPress installed on your server.

Things you will need -

Domain name
Web hosting

If you already have a business website, you have both of these. For those who don’t check out Name.com for domain names and Host Gator as your hosting service.

For this tutorial I will be using the cpanel interface which uses Fantastico to install WordPress. This is the easiest way. It can be done manually but if you are not technical, it’s difficult and will be overwhelming for you.
